The Decision Support Units

Across the East and West Midlands, 12 decision support units (DSUs) are helping health and care system leaders to make better, evidence-informed decisions through high-quality analysis and evaluation

In each system, the decision support unit is the trusted local team for:

  • independent analytical insight for questions of strategic importance
  • access to knowledge
  • support for effective, evidence informed translation of analysis into action
  • ensuring that the ICS becomes a learning system and embraces evaluation as a fundamental part of implementation
  • advancing decision quality
  • additional functions determined locally, for example workforce development; citizens panel development; research and development

These DSUs are actively networked across the Midlands to realise the benefits of scale and collaboration.

This is a radical development with enormous potential.
